Through a series of short videos, Celina will discuss how she has found her way as a ceramic designer inCanada following her passion, which is inspired by nature: the stone, sand, clay, and mineral forms from the earth.
Celina Kang is a ceramic artist residing in Burlington, whose work is inspired by the colours and textures of weathered stone, sand and minerals.
Born in South Korea, she studied both ceramics and interior design at university before coming to Canada in 2009. With stoneware clay, Celina hand builds hollow shapes on the wheel or from slabs in a minimalist style. She intentionally chooses to restrict the shape, texture and colour of her vessel forms and sculptural objects to create timeless pieces.
Celina has exhibited her works at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, Cabbagetown and the One-of-A-Kind Show in Toronto and at several Ontario galleries (Petroff Gallery, Dish Gallery + Studio, Craft Ontario, at Guildworks in Bloomfield, ON and at the Carnegie Gallery in Dundas, ON.
